WOODEN TOYS TO BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY

Wood is an ideal material for a baby's first sensory impressions,

as it has many different sense experiences.

It has grain, and is sometimes lighter or darker.

It is hard or soft, rough or smooth and smells nice.

It sounds different, is heavy or light and has a certain warmth.

Bacteria cannot breed on wood.

This is especially true for none varnished wood.

We just unpacked the first box of European wooden toys.

Stacking rainbows (just like the one in our play area - shown above),

stacking rings, bead rollers, baby rattles and beaded necklaces.
Still to come: carry along doll houses, baby dolls,

play animals, puppets, building blocks and more.

We wrapped wool and wrapped wool and wrapped wool and 3 days later ...

we had a window of those diamond shaped wool and stick objects

that i remember making as a child - "ojo de dias"

Thank goodness for google or we wouldn't

even know what to call our little creations.

We recommend it! -the perfect Fall craft to

Crows will be visiting just until Nov. 1

Their study of the crow has created mixed media

sculptures and collages that are so inspiring!

A small design company in the heart of Brooklyn.

Wonderful designs silk screened onto onesies, and t-shirts - 3mos to 6 years

WINTER WATER FACTORY

We create original fabrics in our studio,

experimenting with print and color until each one is perfected.

All of our designs are hand-printed on natural fibers by a workshop in California,

then each item is sewn in New York's fabric district.
We enjoy the process of making things,

and hope each piece makes you happy.

So, I picked the hottest day of the year to lugg heavy bags of dirt, drill holes and cut wood.
There was a whole lot of love and SWEAT that went into this project, hopefully this time there will be no tears involved. Thanks to Kimberly for teaching me about heavy duty glue - I think we will find the benches still there tomorrow morning!

A chair full of memories.

I don't mean to scare you, but this was the cozy chair in the play
area hiding underneath the slipcover. It is the chair that me and my
sister played on as kids and when I opened the store my dad gave it to
me. As sad looking as it was, it was PERFECT! But it is time to move
on as the legs keep falling off. So, this long story is to announce
the arrival of a brand new (firmer) nursing chair at Beansprouts!

Thank you to all of the volunteers at Car Free Day Main Street!

I personally thought it was amazing. The freedom to roam Main Street without noise and pollution was a wonderful feeling. Me and Estevan didn't want the day to end.

Beansprouts 6th Birthday !

Six Years Ago
Estevan was 1 1/2 running around Beansprouts,

having naps in the back, testing out all the toys that came in,

and could not see over the counter.

Now he likes to run the computer program,

open the door for strollers

and help his mom choose next seasons boys collection.

What started out as bright idea at 4am, turned into a wonderful dream.

Thank you to all the customers and little visitors

who make Beansprouts such an enjoyable place to be.

We both still love spending our days at Beansprouts.
