Estevan is 10 !!!

For his birthday this weekend he wanted a Goorin fedora from Beansprouts, but they are too small ! 
So i had to go to the Goorin Hat store in Yaletown, to get him an adult size hat.
Yes, my baby, who started the store with me when he was just a year old, is now growing out of his own store.
Now, instead of entertaining himself by sweeping, napping in the back, and playing in the window display : he is playing on the computer, and helping customers while I get a tea. He is just as helpful as always. Above is a picture from his Breakdance Birthday Bash ! What a night ! Happy birthday estevan ! Xo mom

A big box of appaman boys clothes arrived today, ah the joy of retail, always jumping ahead. I try to live in the moment, but it is hard when you have a store. Right now I am loving flip flops at night time, sun kissed skin, watermelon for breakfast lunch and dinner, sipping drinks on the patio, reading books in the park, bbq's, watching the boys eat freezies on the porch, swimming outdoors, hanging laundry outside, big boxes of blueberries . . .

Five Little Bunnies

I came to work today to find a little present on my counter.

Five little bunnies just hatched from local artisan 

Owl & Pussycat. 

Already known and loved at Beansprouts for her:

tooth shaped pillows

hand made wool stockings

play aprons

pencil holder rolls

These little bunnies are handmade using recycled wool sweaters, natural wool stuffing and some loving stitches. They are cuddly and ready for some loving.

Easter is on it's way.

Spring shoes arrive

We just received our first delivery of Naturino runners !
The same style you loved from last spring
with an urban sneaker appeal.
The Navy Blue above is Estevan's favourite !
Koby was in last week and choose the same runner in Ochre Yellow
and so far the girls have been choosing the Blush Pink
or the Light Blue because it has rainbow stripes on the side.
This style is available in school age sizes 10 - 3

The next delivery will have the Toddler version in sizes 3 - 9
and sandals for any of you on your way to Hawaii

CHEEKY !

I know I have said it before, But
I am going to say it again.
I love Baby Bear Shop products !
The past few weeks my son has been carry around
tissue in his hand. Sniffle, sniffle, sniffle.
Making his nose all red and sore.
He is a particular kid; particular about his shoes, his socks, colours,
fabric, music, food, his hair, showers, and things that his mom
wants him to wear ( be it clothing or lotions )
So when his nose was all chapped and he asked specifically for
" that lotion in a jar that you have at Beansprouts, the one that melts in your hands "
I thought it would be worth mentioning
that Cheeky Baby Butter has a new success story.
Use it to soothe your 9 year old's stuffed up nose.

Time flies when your ...

... busy renovating your store.
( I can't believe my last post was at Christmas time )

Around the holidays, I had a look at my store and decided
that the shabby chic furniture had to go.
It was a bit emotional to tell you the truth, as I had started the store
with that furniture 7 1/2 years ago.
But I have been learning how to let things go and this
was a perfect opportunity !
Out with the old, in with the new.
I had wanted to close for a week and do everything at once, as always !
Build a new desk, paint the walls, put up new shelves, move the fishtank,
paint the bathroom, fix the floor... the list goes on and on.
BUT:
1. things don't always work out as planned
2. the ideas in your head don't always come out the same
3. you can't always get what you want
4. sometimes one step at a time is best
5. i need to have patience.

SO FAR WE HAVE:

One new and fabulous ( recycled ) desk.
The desk has a seat for your little one, and as you can see in the photo,
it is getting happily used.

A revamped play area for the little ones.
Equipped with more seating and a fresh carpet.
( new toys are on their way )

And later this week we will have a permanent
shoe section with it's own seating. So you and the little ones can
take your time finding your new pair of shoes.

When we are finished most of the renovations we will have a little party
and invite you all over for cupcakes !
